This work focuses on sustainable, handcrafted clothing using mainly low-valued cotton waste for making textile surfaces. Additionally, with inspiration from the traditional papermaking technique, where textile waste is altered into rag paper, this work wishes to emphasize the making process of creating textiles adapted to a fashion context.

The methodology of the project has been limited to various mimicking techniques intended to achieve and imitate the surface expression of rag paper. To highlight the so-called paperlike material, garment archetypes were used as guidelines for silhouettes and to help the observer identify each garment's characteristics. The result of the project grew into an experimental yet semi-commercial collection, highlighting the mimicked material. The exploration suggests possibilities for developing textile surfaces using discarded materials to promote sustainable fashion.
