New interdisciplinary hub for professional knowledge launched at UB
2022-06-07
The project, which was initiated by Petra Angervall, Professor at the Department of Educational Work, is being coordinated by Melina Aarnikoivu, who works 20 per cent as Project Leader at the Department of Educational Work.
“I am very interested in the issues addressed by this project. Research shows that in academic work, we often ‘get stuck’ in our disciplinary thinking, even though we face similar challenges in research and education. I think we need to share both explicit and tacit knowledge among our subject areas,” said Melina Aarnikoivu.
Melina Aarnikoivu has previously worked in interdisciplinary environments as a researcher and teacher in both Finland and Russia, which has given her experience that is important in running this type of project. Her own research interests relate in particular to questions about early-career researchers.
“In my research, I’ve been focusing on how doctoral and early-career researchers navigate their careers and how their ‘research journey’ begins to form and I would like to highlight related issues in this project, as well. I hope to spark discussions among different groups of researchers and teachers here in Borås about how they work with career development.”
The project will continue at least until the end of 2023; it will arrange seminar series, guest researchers, and thematic workshops. The hope is that this will result in interesting, challenging, and creative meetings among researchers, teachers, and administrators at the University of Borås.
Among the first activities CPRE is arranging is a writing retreat this autumn in collaboration with Academic Communication. The writing retreat is open to all researchers at the university.
