Translation creates a more attractive higher education institution

The purpose of the review is to systematically and proactively identify which texts need to be translated into, or updated in, English.
"We did not receive as many tips as in the previous review, but the tips that were submitted dealt with large areas. As a result, a significant number of texts have now been translated or are in the process of being translated," said Eva Medin, Coordinator of English Translations.
In connection with this review, Eva Medin has also worked systematically to identify texts that need to be translated. This is part of the action plan that has been developed for HRS4R* in order to work further with areas of development identified.
"This involves, for example, a review and development of English webpages and activities regarding research support as well as interviews that I am conducting with international researchers to identify information gaps. I have also, together with the university's Legal Expert and HR, identified several policy documents that have now been translated.
"It is important to remember that it is up to each department to continuously consider the need for translation or language review of everything that may be needed for students and employees in order to ensure that we offer an international and inclusive environment. One tip is to add a control question about the possible need for translation to existing routines, e.g. for formal decisions," concluded Eva Medin.
What is HRS4R?
In June 2021, the European Commission approved the application from the University of Borås to use the "HR Excellence in Research" award. This approval indicates that the university meets the EU's quality goals for researchers and demonstrates our excellent work towards having strong conditions for researchers and their work environment. Work is now ongoing on implementing the action plan that has been developed and working further with the development areas that have been identified.
