Ongoing – local and national quality assurance evaluations of education and research
2022-10-17
The aim of the model is that all programmes at Bachelor's level, Master's level, and doctoral level are to be continuously developed through systematic quality assurance work, and the starting point is that all employees and students should feel responsible for their own work and actively participate in quality assurance efforts.
The model is also to ensure that all programmes at the university meet the requirements of the laws and regulations to which the university is subject, as well as the qualification descriptors and the objectives set by the university itself through regular evaluations.
As regards the practical implementation of the evaluations, the main responsibility lies with the Faculties. The boards are responsible for determining the assessment panels and any clustering, i.e. whether different programmes should share an assessment panel for the evaluations. The boards are also responsible for the criteria for the achievement of the objectives of the programmes.
Evaluations carried out
Evaluations have been carried out in 2020–2021 in the Library and Information Science environment. The assessment panels concluded that all the programmes and courses evaluated meet the requirements.
The Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT has subsequently developed action plans and will now inform the Research and Education Board on how the action plan will be implemented. The board will then adopt the action plans.

The Building Technology research group will be evaluated individually in 2022 and a self-assessment and assessment team is being developed.
The research area of Educational Work has been evaluated during the year and an analysis and action plan based on the report is now being prepared.
The research area of Business and IT will be evaluated in 2022-2023 and a self-assessment and assessment panel is being planned.
National system revised
At the same time, the Swedish Higher Education Authority is reviewing the national quality assurance system. A revised methodology will be ready by 2023 and will be valid until 2029.
In parallel with this work, the University of Borås is developing its evaluation cycle for the local evaluation of education. The plan is for the Vice-Chancellor to make a decision on this for 2023–2029 by the end of 2022.
