Work with us at the Faculty of Caring Science, Work Life and Social Welfare

The Faculty has approximately 3,800 students and just over 140 employees. We offer a wide range of Bachelor’s, Master’s, distance, and contract education programmes, as well as freestanding courses. We also have a doctoral education programme. All our educational programmes have a focus on approaches relevant to the professions and sustainable work environments.

The Faculty of Caring Science, Work Life and Social Welfare has two departments:

  • Department of Work Life and Social Welfare
  • Department of Caring Science

At the Faculty, doctoral education is conducted under its own auspices in the subject of the Human Perspective in Care (within the health sciences/nursing). About twenty doctoral students are currently pursuing their doctorates in this programme under the guidance of about ten professors and a number of senior researchers.

Our education and research environment is complemented by a high-tech training environment, the Clinical Training Centre, for researching and strengthening clinical skills.

A particular area of strength at the Faculty is prehospital care (ambulance care) and high-tech research. Here, the University of Borås has a leading role in the Nordic region. This, combined with a long research tradition in health sciences focusing on existential care issues and learning, provides a unique profile. Further, the Faculty conducts research on management, governance, and organisational studies.

The Faculty also houses two centres, arenas for collaboration that have been identified as strategically important for the University of Borås: the Centre for Welfare Studies and PreHospen – Centre for Prehospital Research. Also part of the Faculty is R&D Sjuhärad Welfare, a competence centre for research and development within the welfare area.
