Creativity, technique, and community: Tuula’s experience of the Bachelor’s programme in Fashion Design

What attracted you to the Fashion Design programme?

“I was drawn to the university’s advanced textile labs and its strong focus on textile development. The international environment also makes it a very inspiring place to study.”

What do you think are the most interesting parts of your programme?

“I would say the combination of learning new techniques and then applying them in the larger term projects. These projects allow us to develop our own processes and ways of working, while integrating the technical skills we’ve learned.”

Why should people study at the Swedish School of Textiles?

"The university has a very creative and supportive environment. The programme includes technical, hands-on courses and places a strong focus on artistic development, allowing you to build your own process."

What career opportunities can you have after graduation?

“I believe there are many opportunities, depending on your personal interests and focus areas. This could involve working in a design team or costume design, pattern cutting, production, or even marketing.”

Why did you choose Borås and the Swedish School of Textiles?

“I chose to study here because of the great facilities and the international environment. I also love the nature around the city, and the faculty and student community are amazing.”

How would you describe Borås as a student city?

“For students coming from larger cities, Borås might feel small, but I actually like that. It helps you stay focused and creates a close-knit community at the university. The nature around the city is also beautiful, which makes it a really nice place to live.”

What advice do you have for future students?

“I would recommend visiting Borås and the university. The university is fantastic and offers so much, but living here is also part of the experience, and it’s important to consider both the education and the lifestyle.”
