Robotics in last mile fashion delivery

Motivating customers to reduce their carbon footprint in fashion retailing is identified as a solution. Carbon neutral last mile delivery is a proposed method in Sweden to initiate sustainable solutions such as “delivery robots”. The purpose of study is to identify the customer adaptability to such a business model. This study aims to test the willingness to accept the delivery robot in the online buying process of fashion consumers through technology acceptance model.

Results and discussion

The study identified the population is aware of the perceived usefulness of delivery robots in last mile fashion delivery in the sense of reducing the carbon footprint for a circular flow. But the majority is doubtful of how easy the initiation will be with AI practices and adaptability. Also customers are keen on the cost of the delivery and that the goods return method is convenient in this business model in a faster cycle. Some customers are willing to collect their orders by themselves by reducing the waiting time due to the urgency.
