The role of events in promoting sustainable fashion

Abstract

The "Fashion of Tomorrow: A Sustainable Approach" event, dedicated to exploring the role of events in promoting sustainable fashion practices through consumer education and engagement, demonstrated a notable impact on attendee awareness and behaviour despite being a very small study with a limited number of participants. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study combined quantitative data from surveys with qualitative observations to capture the essence of attendee experiences and perceptions.

Findings

While the key findings from this study underscore the event's success in fostering sustainable fashion awareness and influencing consumer behaviour, it is important to note that due to the small sample size, these results cannot be generalized to a broader population.

The event achieved high levels of engagement and learning, with 83.3% of survey respondents reporting that they acquired new knowledge about fashion technology and sustainability. This highlights the effectiveness of the interactive and educational exhibits, affirming their role in enhancing attendees' understanding of sustainable practices. The substantial shift in consumer behaviour was particularly noteworthy; the willingness to purchase sustainable garments increased from 63.6% to 68.2% post-event. This positive trend indicates the event's success in motivating attendees towards more sustainable purchasing decisions.
