The European Regional Development Fund aims to strengthen cohesion within the EU. By working towards a smarter, greener, and more connected Europe, the fund aims to reduce disparities between rich and poor regions and promote peace, stability, and prosperity.  In Sweden, there are eight regional and one national programme under the Regional Fund.

The 2021-2027 programming period focuses on five thematic axes:

• Digitalisation and Broadband
• Environment and Climate
• Skills supply
• Transport and Travel
• Business and Industry
