Start date: 2024-11-01
End date: 2025-06-30
In this project, libraries are understood as cultural institutions playing a pivotal role in democratic processes. The development of democracy and human capital is critical to overcoming wartime challenges, reintegrating de-occupied territories, and rebuilding Ukraine as a whole. Libraries are essential for building and sustaining a democratic society, promoting lifelong learning, preserving cultural heritage, fostering community engagement, bridging the digital divide, and upholding democratic values.
This project aims to address the multifaceted roles of libraries to support Ukraine's recovery and development. Empowering Libraries for Rebuilding Ukraine explores several interconnected challenges where libraries and connected actors can play a critical role in the war-torn and post-war rebuilding of Ukraine. The primary aim is to strengthen libraries as cultural institutions, forming the basis for a bigger project focused on democratization and freedom of information.
