Environmental test bed for textile recycling
Start date: 2016-09-19
End date: 2019-09-18
An effective incentive to increase the recycling of textiles is the development of new, innovative recycling methods that take into account the highest possible material value from the textile fractions collected. In other words, the current situation must be left with a low recycling rate and low-value performance of recycled products, in order to instead achieve high recycling rates and high-quality secondary products.
To be able to demonstrate the potential of recycled textile material as a raw material for new products, a combined knowledge resource is required that can examine, evaluate and test-drive recycled materials with a focus on several different application areas. Swerea IVF with the Swedish School of Textiles as its main partner therefore starts up a test bed in textile recycling that will be geographically located in Västra Götaland.
