Evaluation of early pre-hospital oxygen therapy in cases of suspected acute coronary syndrome with regard to pain relief and prognosis
Start date: 2011-01-01
End date: 2021-12-31
Despite oxygen therapy having been one of the fundamental principles in the early treatment of acute coronary syndrome, i.e., acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina, there is a lack of good documentation about its significance in pain relief and prognosis.
The purpose of the study is to find scientific evidence for (evidence-based) or against (elimination) treatment with oxygen in cases of acute coronary syndrome. This method of basing on evidence or elimination is done by demonstrating the presence or absence of documentation for this [decades old] treatment with oxygen.
The study is intended to encompass 10 000 patients where there is a clinical suspicion of acute coronary syndrome.
The study is still in the preliminary planning phase
The study starts autumn 2012.
