The environmental, economic, social, and cultural problems that are associated with large scale mass market fast fashion are well known and well documented. There are currently a multitude of actions and initiatives toward mitigating or solving these problems, including developing slow fashion concepts that are based on small scale and locally-oriented practices that  parallel what is taking place in the slow food, slow building, and other slow movements. Using case studies and action-research, this ethnographic study seeks to build a methodological framework for holistically evaluating small scale/localized textile/fashion practice.
