Innovation for sustainable everyday travelling

Innovation for sustainable everyday travelling is a four-year project aiming at developing practical and theoretical knowledge about how digital information infrastructure and associated services can contribute to the expansion of the share of public transport of the total passenger transport system. The aim is to be realized through design-oriented action research in which researchers, providers of traffic information, person transport providers and IT suppliers co-creates an open and user-driven development of the future traveller information in the interaction with everyday travellers. The project has a unique mix of key stakeholders from the society, relevant industry players and leading researchers.
Associated social and business players are in the same as well as different parts of the development trail for personal travel both as both collaborative and competing parties. They demand knowledge on how customer-driven open innovation can contribute to the development of more effective and flexible public transport system.
The overall ambition is that the project will contribute to the development of a digital intelligent public transport systems in the Swedish region Västra Götaland that is not only a model for Sweden but for the rest of the world.
