We want to challenge the present approach to biorefinery implementation as
principally being an intelligent way of “waste disposal” while at the same time
produce some interesting consumer products. We want to look at a biorefinery from a
commercial viewpoint where we need to adopt common industrial principles to
optimise yield and productivity of the core biorefinery processes in order to be
economically viable. The heart of the processes in the biorefinery for most biofuels
production is today the biotechnological process.
