New human-machine interface for diversity and inclusion
Start date: 2018-06-01
End date: 2019-01-31
The project aims to develop principles for portable technology in clothing as a basis for a continued major project through an investigative norm-creative process.
The background to the project is our own experience from research and development in the field of portable technology-smart clothing, which has shown that what appears to be important technological innovations many times generates dysfunctional results from a norm-critical perspective. Other empirical studies have also shown that the marginalization of groups within technological innovation processes has a great influence on the design, technical content and use of technical artifacts. Processes for the inclusion of more different groups will be important when the digital technology is increasingly hidden, built into everyday objects, as part of our environment, and even ourselves.
The project will build on our previous research in smart clothing and portable technology, norm-critical design processes and experimental performative processes. The focus will be on us as researchers, together with and not for different groups, developing principles and methods for inclusive portable technology.
