There is a lack of research overviews that provide a view of prehospital care research in general. Research overviews of prehospital emergency care are also lacking. This lack creates a lack of clarity about the research that has been done with this area, scope, and focus. The purpose of this literature review is to examine the available research within prehospital emergency care/ambulance care with a focus on Caring Science research. Peer reviewed articles in the databases of: Cinahl, PubMed/Medline, Web of Science, Scopus and Cochrane during the last 10 years.
