Re:Textile conducts both research and applied work in concrete projects to investigate the commercial viability of the re-design.

The project includes a research package with a series of feasibility studies within the framework of "Design for circularity" (D4C) to examine the economic and practical feasibility of circular design, remanufacturing/upcycling and servicification. Parallel operated Re:Design Factory is a project arena and machine resource for conducting pilot projects in the area of remanufacturing/redesign in cooperation with diverse partners, from large fashion retailers to small entrepreneurs, producers and suppliers in the region.

The textile industry is resource-intensive and textile upcycling is a huge advantage in environmental terms. But the study shows above all that through innovation in design processes, logistics processes and innovative business models, there is great potential from a business perspective.

OUR VISION: Design for Circularity (D4C)

D4C is the project's guiding principle, and rests on three main areas:

• CONDITIONAL DESIGN - product of a circular economy

• RE-DESIGN MANUFACTURING - production processes for remanufacturing/upcycling.

• SERVICE INNOVATION - new services to extend the life of garments linked to recycling, digitization and redesign.
