A large consortium of interdisciplinary experts from four continents is brought together to combat the threat of forest fires and improve forest resilience against climate change. Researchers at the Swedish School of Library and information Science (SSLIS) contribute with research expertise in knowledge organization, information management, user studies, participatory methodology, and more. The SSLIS team will have a role in conducting tasks including; stakeholder consultation, definition of functional requirements, historical case studies, definition of assessment framework, social media sensing and concept extraction, platform testing and validation, setting the standards and dissemination. The two task areas that the SSLIS team are more involved in are definition of semantic framework for information infusion and design of the citizen engagement program for preventing the wildfires. The latter task that is led by the SSLIS team among others, involves the design of a communication interface for interaction with various stakeholders and specially the general public in an effort to both collect relevant information as well as raise awareness and promote a culture of deterrents to prevent fires from occurring due to the human factor (whether due to negligence and mistakes or on purpose).
