ST-157 Characterisation of Surface Modification of Atmospheric Plasma for Filter Applications

Due to the high energy consumption of operating filters, the European trade association EUROVENT has developed an energy certification system for filters. All filters are rated A-G depending on energy consumption during operation (i.e. the fall in air pressure across the filter). The market favours products with as low energy consumption as possible. This is a desirable development as it leads to lower energy consumption and increased sustainability. Thus, being able to decrease the fall in pressure while maintaining the level of particle separation by increasing the degree of electrostatic particle separation is a highly interesting prospect.
The purpose of the project is to develop a type of air filter which fulfils market requirements on filters with low energy consumption and high levels of particle separation.
