Supercritical CO2 Lab Dyeing system
Start date: 2015-10-06
End date: 2015-10-30
As a first step in supercritical CO2 dyeing THS wishes to invest in lab scale technology. Supercritical CO2 dyeing is not labour intensive compared to conventional processes and is considered especially interesting for Swedish textile industry because of significant savings in energy, chemicals and water while producing high quality products thereby creating new opportunities.
The equipment will support research and education at The Swedish School of Textiles in advanced novel sustainable dyeing technology and dyeing chemistry and the development of Swedish textile industry in these areas. The initiative is part of an overall approach responding to the needs of Swedish textile industry demanding for novel sustainable and competitive textile dyeing processes and changing production strategies. A technology with large potential in that domain is dyeing supercritical CO2. The technology has fairly recently been embraced by large companies such as Nike, enabling introduction of the technology at full scale in textile industry.
