Early care after a stroke is the subject of operational development in the form of improvements where we are currently seeking early communication between the ambulance service and the receiving hospital and subsequently bringing the patient directly to the correct medical and care facility. Stroke is one of our national diseases where great efforts are currently being made to improve the patients´ outcome. The early chain of care consisting of the ambulance service and the receiving hospital is a critical link where there is probably room for improvements, which in themselves could improve the outcome.
The present study is based on the hypothesis that there is a correlation between the efficiency of the early chain of care and the patients´ outcome after a stroke.
