The specific aim with the SPD is to develop a work model for inclusive education in the two schools, which was developed in response to a politically initiated vision for the local schools called "A learning environment for all - a modern school on a scientific basis". The collaboration with the University was initiated from the local schools with the ambition to develop and deepen the understanding of the work model, in a joint process among researchers, teachers, the principal, and the school health team.

The research builds from critical ethnography, and has the ambition not only to give voice to the participants but also to generate participants’ awareness of their situation, and to facilitate their work in the interest of change.
