Early Childhood Education (ECE)

The research group consists of senior lecturers, lecturers, and doctoral students with an interest in topics such as:

  • Young children’s meaning-making, learning processes, and learning environments
  • Education, socialisation, and care of young children
  • Professions in pre-schools/schools and their collaboration
  • Teacher education in the pre-school years and the school's earlier years
  • Educational system, terms, and policy regarding in the pre-school years and the school's earlier years

Together, the members of the research team have rich experience in different methodological and theoretical perspectives as well as different types of data production and analysis models. Within the research group, there is a broad experience of development work and practice-based research in pre-school and the school’s earlier years, for example in areas such as democracy and diversity in pre-school, digitalisation in pre-school/school, science in pre-school, language stimulating environments in pre-school, literacy didactics, professional studies, perspectives on teachers’, children’s and pupils’ roles in policy documents.

On 12 November, our research group will be responsible for one of the department’s joint higher seminars. Helena Ackesjö will then lecture and the subject of this is the 10-year compulsory school.
