Carin Backe
Research Engineer Postdoctor
Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business (including The Swedish School of Textiles)
— Department of Textile Technology
I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Textile Technology. My research focuses on eliminating anthropogenic greenhouse gases in textile materials and processes as part of the Mission 0 House project, together with a number of academic and industrial partners.
I have a long association with the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås. Here I have completed a textile engineering degree, a master's degree in textile technology and finally a doctorate in textile technology with a focus on polymeric E-textiles. I have also worked as a teaching technician in dyeing and finishing. My interest in textiles is broad, but I have a special interest in textile structures and how their properties are built up - from fibers and yarns to the finished product - and how their combination in turn creates new materials.
I teach and supervise students in courses related to textile structures, such as knitting technology, and their simulation. I also work specifically to strengthen and develop competence in the area of warp knitting for research and education, I am for example responsible for our new warp knitting machine.
