Rickard Lindqvist is a fashion designer, researcher, and educator whose current work centres on developing alternative methodologies for garment construction and exploring the intersections between digital design, body-based theory, and sustainable fashion futures. As a senior lecturer at the Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås, he teaches and supervises within fashion design, with particular focus on experimental pattern cutting, kinetic garment systems, and digitally enhanced making processes.

His practice is grounded in a background in men’s tailoring and a PhD in fashion design, where his thesis Kinetic Garment Construction: Remarks on the Foundations of Pattern Cutting proposed a method that moves beyond static measurement systems, instead considering how garments interact with the body in motion.

Lindqvist also has broad experience from the fashion industry. He has worked independently and collaboratively on a range of design projects and was co-founder of the studios Atacac and later [a]industri (2016–2023), where he contributed to early developments in digital garment prototyping and localised production methods. These initiatives sought to reframe how fashion can be designed, produced, and experienced through digital and near-market models.
