Erasmus+ Staff Training in Europe

What are your opportunities?

The Erasmus grant can be received for training relevant for your work tasks/field at another university participating in the Erasmus programme, a company or an organisation. The staff training can consist of:

  • job shadowing
  • participating in courses
  • seminars and workshops (but not conferences)

For example, language courses for teachers teaching in English or staff training weeks/international weeks. You can search for staff training activities and international weeks at IMOTION (external link).

Doctoral students have the same possibilities as other employees to apply for an Erasmus grant, as long as the activities are connected to their future professional careers or ongoing professions at the university.

Staff training must last a minimum of 2 consecutive days and a maximum of 14 days.

If a teaching activity is combined with a training activity during a single period abroad, the minimum number of hours of teaching per week (or any shorter period of stay) is reduced to 4 hours.

Some organisations are not eligible to host a staff training activity. These are:

  • All EU institutions, including the links on that page (however, the offices of the political parties are eligible hosts)
  • Organisations handling EU programmes, for example national agencies such as the Swedish Council for Higher Education (to avoid conflicts of interest and/or double funding)

Funding

The Erasmus grant will be transferred to your faculty/unit at the University of Borås after the exchange. The amount depends on the number of mobility days (max. 5), travel days (max. 2), which country you travel to, and whether you have special needs. This means that the Erasmus grant is a financial contribution that may not cover all costs associated with the exchange.

Application

If you are interested in going on an exchange, contact your nearest manager in due time. Think about what you would like to do and where you would like to go, for example by looking at the list of the university's partner universities. You are responsible for contacting the receiving university and arranging your exchange by yourself. If you get a positive reply from a receiving university, you may apply for the grant.

Then contact exchange@hb.se and ask for the application form for Erasmus+ staff training, which should be signed by yourself, your nearest manager and an international coordinator. Send it to the Erasmus Officer, and if you receive positive reply you will also get the subsequent instructions for receiving the grant.

We accept applications during the following periods:

Autumn 2024: 2024-08-15 until 2024-12-15
Spring 2025: 2025-01-07 until 2025-06-04

What you need to do to receive the grant, in short:

  • Complete and submit the internal application form, signed by your nearest manager
  • Complete and submit the Staff Mobility for Training - Mobility Agreement (which is to be signed by the receiving university regarding the specific plans for your exchange) within 30 days
  • Send your plane tickets to the Erasmus officer (if you wish to receive the travel grant)
  • Complete and submit the online survey after the exchange
  • Send Certificate of Attendance to the Erasmus Officer

Please note that you application must be submitted no later than 4 weeks before your planned departure and that only complete applications will be taken into consideration.

Doctoral students

Doctoral students, employed at HB, can participate in Erasmus+ staff training.

Selection criteria

The selection is based on first come, first served. If there are more applicants than funds, those who have not taken part in the Erasmus programme before will be prioritised.

If you want to go on a teaching exchange instead, you may apply for an Erasmus+ grant for teaching.
