Rules for Examinees in the Examination Hall
General information
Examinations are of great importance to every individual student and must therefore be handled according to certain rules to ensure fairness and legal certainty for each student and thus a fair assessment of each individual. The rules mainly apply to identification, test times, aids, and the consequences of any possible cheating. Examinees must unconditionally follow the rules that apply to examinations as well as any instructions from the examiner during the exam.
Before the examination
Registration for the examination
Registration for exams is to be done via Ladok on the university's website within ten (10) days prior to the exam. No unregistered examinees can be received at the time of the exam. Examinees who, due to disability, require special arrangements at the time of the examination must notify Student Reception no later than twenty (20) days prior to the examination.
In case of any problems in connection with the registration or if you have other questions, please contact Student Reception.
Examination at another higher education institution
If there are special reasons for doing so, exams may be taken at another higher education institution. The student must make contact with the Student Reception in good time for discussions about this. Foreign students who have returned to their home university may be given the opportunity to test in the home country under the condition that the student is enrolled at the University of Borås. The exam must take place with the same legal certainty as at the University of Borås, which means that the exam normally takes place at a Swedish embassy/consulate (this applies to so-called free- movers. For exchange students, the home university works).
The exam on another weekday
If, for religious reasons, you cannot sit for the exam on a specific weekday, you must contact the programme coordinator to make arrangements. Saturdays and Sundays as days for examinations should be avoided to the extent possible.
Examination Hall
The examination hall will be announced as soon as possible, but no later than the day before, via KronoX.
Before the examination
The exam begins with information about the rules that apply to the exam.
Seating in the hall
The examiner announces the seating arrangements that will be in place during the exam.
Examination times
Student should be in the room 15 minutes before the start of the exam as the examination hall will close precisely when the examination time starts. Start and stop times for the exam must be kept exactly. You may not write anything on the forms when the exam period is over. Registered students who arrive after the examination has begun and the examination hall has closed have the opportunity to enter 30 minutes after the exam start time, when the room will open again for admission. However, the student loses the corresponding amount of examination time. Students who arrive at the examination room more than 30 minutes after the start of the examination are not entitled to sit the exam.
Computer-based exams
When it comes to computer-based exams, the student must be in place 30 minutes before the exam begins. If a loaner computer needs to be booked, this booking must be made no later than seven (7) calendar days before the exam date.
Identification
The right to take an exam at the scheduled time is granted only if the student has registered in time and can present a photo ID with a clear image and valid expiry date. Zoom-supervised exam
The exam is conducted in Canvas (in some cases WISEflow) and you as the teacher are responsible for the exam itself. Student Reception (Studentexpeditionen) is responsible for supervision via Zoom.
In order to conduct exams as similarly as possible to written examinations on campus, the exam supervisors will supervise the exam via Zoom. They see the students and their workspace in profile on a separate device. The student thus needs to have access to a computer for the exam itself and an extra device (with webcam) to film the workspace. We can never achieve the same fairness and legal certainty as with a written exam on campus, but we can make such digital exams as similar as possible.
It is the examiner who decides whether the exam should/can be given with Zoom supervision and agrees to the possibility of getting Zoom supervision with Student Reception. Please note that there may be restrictions on the number of exam supervisors, so we cannot guarantee that it is possible to give the exam on the exact date you request.
It is possible to conduct a Zoom-supervised exam when the number of examinees does not exceed 72 students at the same time. If the number of examinees is over 72, you as a teacher must conduct two exams and divide it into morning and afternoon or different days, or choose another form of examination.
What is required of you as a teacher if you choose to give your exam with Zoom supervision with the help of Student Reception?
Before the exam
No later than 14 days before, you as a teacher must contact Student Reception and ask if there is a possibility for help with a Zoom-supervised exam. Contact: tentamen@hb.se.
If it is possible to offer a Zoom-supervised exam:
- You as a teacher are responsible for creating one link per 24 examinees (24 examinees can be monitored simultaneously on the screen). For more than 24 examinees, you must create more links (max 3), and ensure that the right students get the right link. You do this in consultation with the administration at the Student Reception (10 days before, we know the number of registered students for the exam).
- You MUST log in to Zoom via https://hb-se.zoom.us/
- That each link has the correct start date and time and that the students enter a "waiting room", and are admitted for identification check only when the supervisor has been given the role "Host".
- That the information that the exam is given as a Zoom-supervised exam reaches the students as far in advance as possible.
- That it is evident from the booking in KronoX that it is Zoom-supervised.
- Registration in Ladok at least 10 days before applies to the Zoom-supervised exam just as to the written exams on campus: the students must be informed about this.
- That a registration list is in Ladok; check this in consultation with the education administration staff.
- That students get access to the right link.
- That the exam supervisors get the role "Co-host" in the link, you get to know which two supervisors through contact with the administration a couple of days before the exam is given.
- That Student Reception receives the link for forwarding to the supervisors.
- That the exam is set up in Canvas (you as the teacher are responsible for the exam; the supervisors have no access to Canvas).
On exam day
- You as a teacher meet the supervisors via the Zoom link 1h before the exam begins. You decide if you as a teacher are present during the entire exam, or at the beginning of the exam and provide information about the exam, or are not present at all during the writing of the exam.
- If the teacher is not present to give relevant information, the supervisors must receive all the information needed so that they can communicate it to the students.
- The supervisors receive the teacher's telephone number and the teacher must be available throughout the writing time of the exam!
- The teacher must, at the request of the supervisors, if necessary, be able to return to Zoom quickly.
- If you as a teacher choose to stay, you must switch the role "Host" between you and exam supervisor 1. Only "Host" can move students between different rooms in Zoom.
- Supervisor 1 ("Co-host" from the beginning, then gets the role "Host") creates four "breakout rooms" and names these: Exam room, Teacher questions, Toilet visits/other questions, and Submit.
- Supervisor 2 ("Co-host") moves to Exam room and is there the entire time.
- Supervisor 1 starts to let the students in one at a time and carries out identification checks in the "main room" before each student is moved to Exam room.
- Important! Before the teacher leaves Zoom, Supervisor 1 must be given the role of "Host".
- For more information on how the actual monitoring is done in Zoom, contact Student Reception.
After the exam
- The teacher receives a copy of the attendance list and break list from Student Reception.
- The attendance list shows the time the student has submitted the exam. Any files uploaded in Canvas after the submission time are not assessed.
