Digital Cleaning
On Saturday, March 16, the International Digital Cleaning Day takes place.
During the sustainability week from March 25 to 27, we’ll have designated cleaning days. For a few hours each day, the IT team will be available on the third floor (next to the IT Service Desk) to assist with any questions related to digital cleaning.
Cleaning Your Mobile Phone and Tablet
- Uninstall unused apps
- Delete duplicates of your photos and videos
To check your iPhone’s storage space, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Manage Your Photo and Video Storage
Cleaning Your Emails
Only 22% of all newsletters are opened. Each email contributes between 0.3 and 50 grams of CO2, depending on its content.
- Unsubscribe from outdated newsletters
- Delete old emails
- Use search filters for size, age, or attachments to make sorting easier
- Regularly delete spam
- Remember that your inbox is not an archive; remove attachments and save them on F:\, G:\, or OneDrive
- Avoid sending emails with large attachments; instead, direct recipients to a location on G:\ or Teams where they can access the file
Cleaning Your Files
Manage your files in the following file areas
- Box
- F:\
- Teams and OneDrive
- If you have private photos and videos in your F:\ area, move them to private storage locations
The university’s information management plan specifies how long different types of information should be retained. Information meant for long-term preservation should be transferred to central archives following the guidelines in the information management plan.
