Accidents
Emergent danger
- Call SOS Alarm 112 to reach emergency services, ambulance services, or the police.
- Do not hang up until instructed to do so.
- Provide a telephone number where you can be reached.
- Keep your phone line open so that SOS Alarm or the emergency services can call you back.
- Contact the university's emergency number and inform them of what has happened and that help is on the way.
Burns and scalds
- Cool with very cool running water for about 20-30 minutes.
- Do not leave the injured person alone.
- Do not remove the injured person's clothes to avoid further damage.
Electrical accidents
- Cut the power immediately.
- Do not touch the injured person until the power is cut.
Chemical burns
- Immediately rinse the damaged area with plenty of running water.
- Remove exposed clothing and avoid contact with the face. Also remove wristwatches, glasses, and other items that may have come into contact with the substance.
- Continue rinsing the area for about 20–30 minutes.
Eye damage (splash of corrosive substances)
- Rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water.
- Keep the eyelid open during rinsing
- Continue rinsing for about 20 minutes.
When contacting SOS Alarm and the university's emergency number, be prepared to state the following:
- Your name
- Location (University of Borås, building, section, and floor)
- "What has happened..."
