Report a serious accident/incident

As a student, you are obliged to report serious accidents/incidents instead of acting on your own. Contact the relevant teaching staff, Head of Department, or Dean of Faculty.

Emergent danger

  • Call SOS Alarm 112 to reach emergency services, ambulance services, or the police.
  • Do not hang up until instructed to do so.
  • Provide a telephone number where you can be reached.
  • Keep your phone line open so that SOS Alarm or the emergency services can call you back.
  • Contact the university's emergency number and inform them of what has happened and that help is on the way.

Burns and scalds

  • Cool with very cool running water for about 20-30 minutes.
  • Do not leave the injured person alone.
  • Do not remove the injured person's clothes to avoid further damage.

Electrical accidents

  • Cut the power immediately.
  • Do not touch the injured person until the power is cut.

Chemical burns

  • Immediately rinse the damaged area with plenty of running water.
  • Remove exposed clothing and avoid contact with the face. Also remove wristwatches, glasses, and other items that may have come into contact with the substance.
  • Continue rinsing the area for about 20–30 minutes.

Eye damage (splash of corrosive substances)

  • Rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water.
  • Keep the eyelid open during rinsing.
  • Continue rinsing for about 20 minutes.

When contacting SOS Alarm and the university's emergency number, be prepared to state the following:

  • Your name
  • Location (University of Borås, building, section, and floor)
  • "What has happened..."

In case of emergent danger to life, health, and property, contact SOS Alarm 112.
