VR can enhance practical learning in textile technology

"Based on our previous study, where we involved students to assess whether virtual reality (VR) really improves education, we have, in collaboration with colleagues from the Department of Educational Work, delved into understanding how VR affects the students' experience and its broader impact on educational outcomes," explained Mohammad Neaz Morshed, researcher in Textile Technology at the Swedish School of Textiles, who is involved in this project.

VR and physical laboratory work complement each other

He believes that VR and physical laboratory work do not replace each other, but rather complement each other to improve and develop learning.
"In textile education and research, VR can serve as a powerful tool to enhance practical learning, offer digitised education and a safe environment for learning about complex equipment, saving both time and resources," he said.

The project continues

The Textile Material Technology (TMT) research group will now continue to investigate the integration of VR in textile education and collaborate with experts in the field.
"We want to continue to explore how this technology can support and enrich the educational journey for students and researchers at the Swedish School of Textiles.”
