Performance reviews

The performance review should be a dialogue between employees and their immediate managers. The purpose of performance reviews is:

  • To develop individuals and the department towards the goals of the department/university
  • To develop consensus and a good climate of collaboration
  • To strengthen the relationship between manager and employee
  • To attend to signals of possible work environment concerns and signs of ill health

Good conversations – the responsibility of managers and employees

A prerequisite for a successful performance review is that both manager and employee come prepared for the review. To this end, preparation material with examples of issues that can be discussed is available. Think through which areas/issues are important to you. During the review, the goals and professional development activities for the employee in the coming year are discussed and determined. 

Who has the right to a performance review?

All employees employed at the University of Borås have the right to have a performance review with their immediate manager. For those on leave/parental leave, a review should be scheduled in connection with their return to work. Employees with fixed-term employment for less than one year are also entitled to a performance review if one of the parties finds reason to do so.
