Illness benefit
During the first 14 days of a period of illness, the employer pays the illness benefit and from the 15th day onwards, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency pays out the illness benefit. It is important that the correct income is reported to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency so that the correct illness benefit is paid. The university illness benefit works as follows:
- Full deduction day 1 (qualifying/waiting deduction, known as karensdag or karensavdrag in Swedish
- 80 percent illness benefit day 2 until day 14
- 10 percent illness benefit day 15 to day 364
Illness benefit from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency is 80 percent of illness benefit qualifying income.
